This introductory module provides a live demonstration of the electrode coating process in the manufacturing of lithium-ion battery electrodes with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathodes. Serving as the complement to Session 1, it offers participants a first, hands-on impression of how a coating line operates in practice before diving deeper into process design and defect analysis. The coating step is the foundation of electrode production, as it transforms a metallic current collector foil and a pre-mixed battery slurry into a continuous, coated electrode ready for drying and further processing.

The session combines a short theoretical introduction with a live demonstration on a real coating line. Participants observe the complete workflow in operation and gain an intuitive understanding of how the individual components interact. Special attention is given to the setup of the coating unit, the feeding of slurry and foil, the movement of the web through the line, and the transition into the integrated drying modules.

The practical component consists of the live demonstration itself, during which participants witness the coating process in real time, observe the resulting wet and dried electrode, and prepare the conceptual basis for the detailed parameter and defect discussions in Session 1.
